DESCRIPTION
The second edition of this work, published two years after the first.
Simond left France during the Revolutionary period and spent twenty years in America, before going to England where he resided from 1810-1811.
Simond was among the first Frenchmen to visit Switzerland after the downfall of the Empire.
Collated, lacking the folding double page plate called for.
With a half title to each volume.
With contemporary inscription to the front pastedown and front free endpaper of each volume, with the handwritten rules of the Donaghadee Reading Society to the front pastedown of volume I.
CONDITION
In the original paper covered boards. Discolouration to back strip, with bumping to back strip head and tale. Paper spine labels age toned. Volume I joint tales starting, with boards firmly held. Inscriptions to front endpapers and pastedowns to each volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with only the odd spot.
