Dating from the early to mid1800s, the painting depicts acoastal scene featuring fishing boats on a beach with nets drying on the foreshoreand figures engaged in various pursuits. The F31 letter on the fishing boat inthe mid-ground would indicate it originating from Faversham in Kent.

Circ. 1840s/1850s

The work is unsigned, undated and unframed.

Good overall condition, on dense 19th centurytextured artist paper, minor surface discolouration, foxing verso with old tapemarks and mount.
