I was fortunate enough to obtain somereally nice Arizona petrifiedlogs that are usually hard to come by this far north. I do manage to stumble into a choice piece every now and then and this stunning specimen certainly is one of the prettiestlarger sized rounds Ive handled in recent years. Thestonewas pricey, but it had suchdramatic colors ina nice displayable sizethat Icouldnt passit up!This log produced some of the finest and visually captivating Arizona Rainbow specimens youll find with truly remarkable natural color. Itsthe kind of specimens that explains how this wood earned its name!It really looks like a rainbow went through a galactic explosion to produce this unimaginable color! The log isvery nicely agatized and took a magnificentpolish in our world class lapidary shopto bring all of that amazing color to lifeas only the best grades of petrified wood can.This looks to be an Araucaria (an ancient conifer). Thedeep red, orange, purpleand yellow combine with the ancient wood grain to make a stunning display piece! We dont offer it often - but when we do you know its a great piece!!

I dont often get top grade examples of petrified wood from Arizona and what I do see is usually table top size and not very easy for a collector to display.This particular logis an exception to both ventes exceptionnelles rules. I didnt find it, but I sure wish I had! Its one of the better preservedmedium sizedpetrified wood logs Ive seen from that state and deserves a place in your collection as well. Most of the petrified logs found in this particular area are Araucaria, and the structure in this one is consistent with those. The cell structure of most of these super old conifer like trees are very difficult to separate just in cross section no matter how well defined they are and this one is no exception.

If youre new to our shop the one thing you should expect is to see an unexpectedly glossy finish on each stone we prepare. This complete round is a wonderful example ofthe best lapidary work youll find. Its been cut with a diamond saw and flat lapped on equipment I built myselfto produce a mirror perfect polish unmatched by any of our many would-beimitators. The detail captured and revealed through the highly polished surfaceis just immaculate. Its easily some of the bestfossil wood to be found anywhere! The rings are gorgeous, the agate is highly polished and the detail is easier to see in person than the photo suggests. Its a truly special find and we wont likely have a lot more so get a piece for your collection while its available!

This is a choice slab from thecenter of the log. It measures about 15" across the widest part of the polished face or about14 3/8" x13" as it sits in the photo. Itis cut about 1" thick. Weight is14.32 lbs.
