Zane Grey was a noted American author best known for his popular adventure novels and stories that
presented an idealized image of the Old West. "Riders of the Purple Sage"(1912) was his bestselling book.
He is credited with over 100 films and a TV series, Dick Powells Zane Grey Theatre, all based loosely
on his novels and short stories. Greys son Loren claims, in the introduction to "Tales of Tahitian
Waters," that Zane Grey fished on average 300 days a year throughout his adult life.
